Don't forget to use tips 41 and 42 matched pair, same gain and bd 139 and 140 too. the bd should measure on the 10k scale on the analog multimeter and in the opposite direction of measurement between emitter and collector and between emitter and base, the transistor must be balanced eg: 500k on both sides or 300k on both sides. the gain maxes out at 180 hfe. tips 41 and 42 ideal gain between 120 to 140 hfe.
