Mech noise when playing tape a or b - retainer rubbing belt The unit has a loud rubbing sound when either a deck or b deckis running. a visual inspection shows a stiff wire mounted on a screw onthe back of the a deck. the wire, which appears to be a retaining clip isrubbing against belt causing the noise.
